How Many Treatment Sessions are Required?
The number of sessions needed varies based on skin and hair color, but typically 6 to 8 sessions are needed for 80% clearance or greater, which is considered excellent in aesthetic laser medicine. After this, an annual maintenance treatment is recommended. Each session should be spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, depending on the area being treated.
Is It Painful?

Patients That Should NOT be Treated Include:
- Those who are pregnant
- Those with sunburned or irritated skin in the treatment areas
- It is recommended that patients who are taking photosensitizing medications, such as Accutane, discontinue the medication six months prior to treatment.

- Patients using topical Retin-A should wait 2 weeks before treatment
Some patients may not respond as well to treatment, and one factor is hair color. Some hairs lack sufficient melanin to absorb the energy needed to destroy or damage a follicle, often the case with light-colored hair (e.g., blonde, gray, red). Another common reason for suboptimal response is strong hair regrowth due to hormonal imbalances, including PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).
